Work Location: Various project locations in and around Calgary, AB

Position: Steel Stud Framer – Carpentry

Wage: $36.00 – $37.00 per hour (Depending on working experience)

Working Hours: 30 hours per week

Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Starting Date of Employment: As Soon As Possible

Position Available: 1

Benefits: 4% of wage for vacation pay

 

 

Job Duties:

• Read and interpret blueprints, architectural drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and material requirements for steel stud framing
• Prepare layouts for interior and exterior steel stud wall systems in conformance with Alberta building codes, using laser levels and measuring tools
• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble steel stud framing components, including tracks, studs, and related materials
• Construct and install load-bearing and non-load-bearing steel stud wall systems for commercial and multi-family projects
• Install backing, blocking, and support systems for drywall, including fire-rated and acoustically rated wall assemblies
• Maintain and renovate steel stud framing and wall systems in commercial and institutional environments
• Provide guidance to apprentices and other construction workers and assist in training to support skill development and ensure adherence to project specifications
• May assist with material take-offs and cost estimates for projects

 

Job Requirements:

·         Completion of secondary school is required.

·         3+ years of work experience in the trade, OR a combination of experience and industry courses is required.

·         Experience in commercial steel stud framing and wall systems is preferred.

·         Ability to communicate effectively in English on-site is required

·         Trade certification or Red Seal endorsement is an asset, but not required.

·         Steel-toed safety boots are required.
